Charles “Chuck” G. Witte, 81, of Toledo, OH, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Manor at Perrysburg. Born December 16, 1936, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was the son of Donald and Jane (Nakamura) Witte.  He married Sylvia Philabaum on November 2, 1958.    Chuck was employed for 16 years for Owens Corning Fiberglass in Toledo.  Over the past 50 years, he worked on and off as support staff  at many area funeral homes. Chuck was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Toledo, serving as an usher, deacon, and a leader in the youth department for many years. He and Sylvia came to know Christ as their personal Savior through W.P.O.S. (Proclaim) Radio Station tent meetings in 1968.  Chuck enjoyed camping, day trips, and picnics with family. He and his wife especially enjoyed gospel concerts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sylvia; children, Debbie (Jerry) Dunbar, Tamara (Greg) Walczak, and Sheryl Witte; brother, Thomas (Ruth) Witte; sister, Kathryn Witte; grandchildren, Lucas (Katelyn) Dunbar, grandson-in-law, Jason (Amanda) Sager; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces.  Chuck was preceded  in death by granddaughter, Luann “Lulu” Dunbar-Sager; sister, Ellen Smith and niece, Sarah Seawick.

 

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 1:30 pm, Monday, January 22, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 1:30 pm. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Pastor Bruce Snyder and Pastor Chuck Markel, officiating. The family would like to thank the Manor at Perrysburg for the excellent care given to Chuck during his stay. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Proclaim Radio Station.
